Gupta Receives Collegiate Professorship

Vijay Gupta has been named a College of Engineering Collegiate Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, an honor bestowed upon him in recognition “of his exceptional performance in his first several years at the University of Notre Dame.” 
In addition to his title, the appointment includes an annual discretionary research funding supplement.

Jena Receives 2014 MBE Young Investigator Award

Debdeep Jena, professor of electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame, has been selected as the 2014 Young Investigator by the International Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) Advisory Committee. He is being recognized for “using MBE to unravel new electronic and photonic phenomena in polar semiconductor heterostructures, and for sustained leadership in the demonstration of their device applications.”

Flynn Named Duda Professor of Engineering

Patrick J. Flynn, professor of computer science and engineering and concurrent professor of electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame, has been named the Duda Family Professor of Engineering in recognition of his long-standing contributions to foundational knowledge in computer vision and biometrics, as well as his outstanding contributions to students and the learning environment.

ND Researchers Receive Grant to Develop Two-Dimensional Memory

The National Science Foundation’s “Grant Opportunities of Academic Liaison with Industry” (GOALI) program has awarded Notre Dame faculty members Susan Fullerton and Alan Seabaugh $368,000 to develop a new device that relies on the movement of ions to control electron transport in graphene—a single layer of carbon atoms

Costello Wins Kirchmayer Award

Daniel J. Costello Jr., the Leonard Bettex Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, has been named the recipient of the 2015 Leon K. Kirchmayer Graduate Teaching Award by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
